For hundreds of clients selling smoothies across North America, we looked at the summer sales season. Between June 1 and August 31, 2021, $73.7 million worth of smoothies were sold.
The following items round out the top ten: Tropical Fruit (smoothies made with a mix of pineapple, coconut, etc.),
- Smoothies with a mix of strawberries, blueberries, cranberries, etc. are called mango mixed berries.
- Orange and Banana
- Cranberries
- Matcha
- Pomegranate Green Tea
This past summer, strawberry was the most popular smoothie flavor. To determine the primary ingredient, we examined a wide range of smoothies. Acai, which is pronounced as “a-sigh-EE,” was the second most popular. Brazilian fruit acai is frequently promoted as one of the so-called superfoods.
How about the least popular?
The ranking of the top five least liked smoothie flavors was as follows:
Papaya, Passion Fruit, Guava, and Lemon.
Marionberry was the flavor that was least liked. And believe it or not, something called marionberry made it on the list of least liked as well. I thought this was a joke at first glance. As you may remember, Marion Berry was a mayor in Washington DC that got into a lot of hot water with the law. And famously, he was re-elected.
As a smoothie shop in Outer Banks NC, we get to see a lot of what drives the public’s appetite. After all, we are a tourist destination so we get folks from all up and down the east coast and sometimes people from the west coast and abroad.
